Ellen Ruth Bowen of Potosi, Missouri was born May 6, 1950 in Springtown, Missouri, a daughter of the late John Guy Wilkinson and the late Velma Nettles Wilkinson. Ellen departed this life surrounded by the love of her family, December 31, 2017 having reached the age of sixty-seven years, seven months and twenty-five days.
Ellen was united in marriage to Nelson “Buddy” Bowen, on November 25, 1967 in East St. Louis, IL and were blessed with two children.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband, “Buddy” Bowen; one daughter, Sharon and husband Billy Bourbon of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Mike Bowen of Potosi, Missouri; two brothers, John Wilkinson and wife Sue of Leasburg, Missouri, Vearn “Butch” Wilkinson and wife Loretta of Potosi, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kayla Long (AJ), Megan Harmon (Dalton), Mathew Bourbon (Stefanie Connell), Chris Bowen (Nicole), Shayla Hurt, Carrie Wade, Ashlee Henson; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kynlee, Reid, Rylie, Reagan, CJ, Cortnie, Kenzie, Kendell, Cambree, Raylin, Andrew, Lily, Devon.
In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by two brothers, Donnie Ray Wilkinson and Ralph Guy Wilkinson; three sisters, Judy Jenkins, Carolyn Stevenson and Loretta Fay Wilkinson; one grandson, Michael Bowen and one great granddaughter, Melody Wade.
Ellen was a registered nurse and provided care for many in need at Georgian Gardens Nursing Home in Potosi, MO, for thirty-five years. When Ellie was not working she loved to quilt as well as camp, go catfishing and catching a game show on TV. Family was a number one priority for Ellen, as she loved to spend time with them all. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Visitation was held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 4:30 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home, Potosi. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at the Moore Chapel with Brother Dan Dinger officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were, Matt Bourbon, A.J. Long, Dalton Harmon, Chris Bowen, Robert Wilkinson and Tim Wilkinson, Honorary Pallbearers were Jody Brawley and Billy Bourbon.
