Barbara Mildred Dickerson of Cadet, Missouri was born on February 12, 1930 in Bliss, Missouri a daughter of the late, John B. Courtaway and the late, Mary Alice (Boyer) Courtaway. Barbara departed this life on February 18, 2017 at the St. Anthony’s Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-seven years and six days.
Barbara was united in marriage to Louis Campbell Dickerson on May 14, 1947 in Old Mines, Missouri.
She is survived by four daughters, Brenda Fronczak of Cadet, Missouri; Shirley Robinson and husband, Bill of St. Louis, Missouri; Sheila Miller and Terry of St. Louis, Missouri; Donna Rangel of Potosi, Missouri; one son, Phil Dickerson of Cadet, Missouri; four sisters, Velma Portell of Arnold, Missouri; Dorothy Coleman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Viola Thebeau and husband, Russell of Cadet, Missouri; Carol O’Laker of Cadet, Missouri; eleven grandchildren: Joe, Bradley, Eric, Nathan, Keali, Brendan, Johnny (Chuck), Theodore “Teddy”, Victor, Chris, Ramon; ten great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Cameron, Brandi, Mikaila, Benjamin, Autumn, Michael, Evan, Caleb, Braxton; two great-great-grandchildren, Caydence and Brylee; also surviving are other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Dickerson, four brothers, Joseph “Buck” Courtaway, James Edward Courtaway, Lawrence “Rat” Courtaway and Harold “Toad” Courtaway.
Barbara was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church and loved her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed gambling, playing poker, euchre and slots. Visiting with family and friends was one of her favorite things. Barbara loved Halloween it was her favorite holiday, she always looked forward to dressing up and seeing all her grandchildren dressed up having fun. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors picking berries. She will be very deeply missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Tony Dattilo officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Joe Thebeau, Brad Miller, Eric Eckert, Nathan Fronczak, Brendan Dickerson, Johnathan Dickerson, Chris Santiago, Michael Eckert and Gary Decker.
